We are best known for our fried clams:
in fact we are famous for them far and wide!
Further, we agree with our happy customers.
The Chick-A-Dee Restaurant Fried
Clam Story
We prepare our
clams for frying in one of two ways: either in our
"customary manner" or "whole clams".
Since the Chick-A-Dee began serving clams sometime after
1935, it has been our custom to remove the grit and other
contents from the clam belly so you can enjoy the clam
and belly without the grit.
Our
second way is to just fry the whole clam with belly, grit
and all, which is the method utilized by most preparers
of fried clams. Unless you request the second method -
"whole clams" -, we will prepare them in our
"customary manner" as we have for many years.
In addition, your choice of clams will be fried in a very
light batter or crumbs.
